about
Pia Danner, born in 1974, studied architecture at Leibniz University Hannover and Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. After obtaining her degree, she initially worked as an architect, later art director at a visualization agency until the birth of her two daughters. Subsequently, she ventured into self-employment in the field of graphics and design. Today, she works as a lecturer in building construction (architecture) and painting at university, while also continuing her freelance work as a graphic designer and illustrator. Since a few years, she has dedicated herself to the fine arts across various media: collages, sketches, printmaking, as well as installation and digital art. In recent years, she has artistically focused on abstract to roughly figurative painting in increasingly larger formats.

artist statement
Pia Danners' paintings are characterized by bold black outlines and an intuitive juxtaposition of elements, depicting entities that defy clear categorization. These hybrid forms—a fusion of architecture, flora, fauna, human, and mechanical elements—embody a form of naive abstraction that oscillates between narrative dimensions and subjective experience, engaging both the intangible and the unnameable. Her works provide a space for viewers' introspective exploration, yielding insights that can range from analytical revelations to unexpectedly candid disclosures. Pia posits that her paintings occasionally possess clairvoyant qualities, offering glimpses beyond the perceptible.
